Cosmetic dentistry is oral care that focuses on improving the overall appearance of your teeth. One method of this is through the use of porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers can be used to fix teeth that are discolored, chipped, or misshapen.
What are veneers?
Veneers are tooth-colored shells that are bonded, or cemented, to the front of your teeth. They are custom-made of ceramic or composite resin and are custom-made for you to look like your natural teeth. Veneers require little-to-no anesthesia and can be the perfect choice if you’re looking to improve the appearance of a tooth. Porcelain veneers can be used to improve teeth shape, color, length, and size.
What are veneers used for?
As mentioned before, veneers can help you improve the cosmetic look of your teeth. They can fix teeth that are worn-down, have gaps, are misaligned and uneven, are irregularly shaped, and more. Veneers are a simple way to get the smile that you’ve always wanted.
How are dental veneers placed?
Typically, the entire process will require three visits; one for your consultation and two to make and apply your veneers. At your initial consultation, we will ask you what you’d like to fix your smile. Next, we will examine your teeth to make sure that this is the right treatment plan for you. To prepare your teeth for the veneer, we will remove around ½ mm of enamel from the surface of the selected tooth. After the veneers are made and returned to our offices, we will make sure that they fit properly and look good, and then we will cement them into place.
